Tensor—a Silicon Valley-based autonomous vehicle startup (formerly known as AutoX)—has indeed partnered with VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, to produce the Tensor Robocar.
The collaboration was unveiled in August 2025, with VinFast responsible for manufacturing and assembly at its factory in Hai Phong, Vietnam.
The Robocar is equipped with over 100 sensors, advanced AI for "agentic" decision-making (meaning it can handle complex, real-world scenarios independently), and dual modes for manual or fully autonomous driving.
Unlike robotaxis from companies like Waymo or Cruise, this is positioned as the world's first consumer-ready personal self-driving car, aimed at affluent buyers. Early estimates suggest a starting price around $200,000.
Tensor focuses on AI-driven autonomy, and this marks VinFast's entry into high-end AV production, leveraging its EV expertise to scale production.
